Week of Business

One week from my last post. A small glimmer of hope for relaxation for today exists. Last Tuesday was my interview. It went well. I think the job is awesome, however there could be a fair amount of travel in Southern Illinois to prevent them (if I am one of their top considerations) from giving me the job because I have smaller kids. It's a tough call. If they offered it I would have to take it. It's not a job that will pop up in 2 years when the kids are in school. We'll see if I get one of those second interviews.
Wednesday and Thursday were days of restless thoughts about the interview and getting prepared for Megan's wedding and spa day. Friday we had Maya's class picnic, which was actually cancelled but nobody knew. We played with some friends for the afternoon. That evening we went to a neighbors house for a cookout. So, saturday morning I woke up bright and early to make some chocolate covered strawberries and was off to the 8am facial and pedicure. It was really nice and I met a group of really nice gals. We all headed to Olive Garden for lunch. Went home for a couple hours, dropped the kids off at my parents and went to Alexander's with Meg's family and friends. Good food and good conversations. We were really excited to see a Dave Matthews coverband that night at SOP's, however the ETA of the band was midnight so we left the bar sadly for an earlier night of sleep. Sunday morning we got ready for the wedding and headed to my parents to pick up the kids. We did a few errands before getting to the wedding. It was in her parents backyard and was simple, yet absolutely beautiful. And monday, Memorial Day, Becky and Troy and my parents came over for a BBQ and an afternoon of Bags and Bocceball. It turned out to be a really nice day. This Thursday Adam's dad is flying in for the weekend. It's the Washington Cherryfest. Pumpkinfest is much better, but oh well. Anyhow, that is it in a nutshell. This is the kids' first week off of school. Maya starts evening gymnastic classes next week and Camp Bugga Bugga the second weekend in June. Brennan will probably go back to his 1.5 hour class, but I haven't signed him up for it yet. Hoping I'll hear something about the job this week. Also have the neighborhood garage sales next week that I need to get my ass in gear for. Becky has brought over a nice amount of stuff from keeping it a baby sale. Everybody enjoy your week. It's gonna be a hot one today!

Weekend O Fun

Seemed like it was an outdoor weekend. I planted a small garden. We'll see how long it survives or if the little seedlings even pop up. Our neighbors had a sod cutter, so we took advantage and had them cut out a couple squares of sod. Perhaps we'll have fresh cucumber, peas and green beans by the end of summer.
Today the kids had fun washing the cars. You'd think with 8 hands the work would go faster, but I think 4 hands slowed us down. Adam constructed his own shelving this weekend. He's very proud of himself... as he should be. 7 years ago he couldn't even use a drill correctly.
Before I forget, and this is geared toward the Morton girls, but do you guys remember when we used to go to Morton Bowl and play pool? There was always that weird tall guy with kinda mulletty dark hair and glasses. He had the hots for one of us (not me... was it you Jamie) Anyhow, I saw him this morning at Washington Walmart. He looked at me and waved. It took me a good 5 minutes to go through the files in my brain to remember why I knew him. Please tell me someone knows who I'm talking about. On another Morton note... I ran into Amy Parker yesterday at the mall. I still love that girl. Anyhow, Parker moved to Tacoma, WA. Sounds like all is well.
On a humorous note... I took Charlie to the vet on thursday after he peed and pooped in non-litter box areas in our basement. (Thank God it's not finished or he'd be gone) It pissed me off big time. To the point where I was like, he's a goner. But then I thought what if he's sick or his kidney's have flared up again. Anyhow, he had a slight UTI, but he may have a behavioral problem that may require meds to settle him down. So my cat has ADD or something potentially.
Well, I should hit the hay. Big day tomorrow. Both kids have school and I have to decide what I'm going to wear to my interview! I'm so excited, yet I know I could also have some extreme disappointment if I am denied this dream opportunity.

Go Diego Go

Diego was a success, although, maybe not worth the admission price when two of your tickets just want to sit in your lap. It was fun though. Maya's favorite part was the bubbles and paper that spewed out at the end for the "Animale Carnivale". My favorite part was when the rescue pack came out and did some hip hop dancing to the rescue pack song. Brennan sat well for the show. After the show me met the Hubble family at Morton's Steak and Shake. Yummy.
I had some good news today. I have an interview in Peoria for the job that I really want next tuesday. Yeah.

Some Answers to your Questions

Brennan's first day went awesome. The teacher said he did really well. Teared up a little when another little boy was crying for his mom. So it either works like this... he loves it and will be happy to go back or it was fun that time and oh no, mom is leaving me here again so then he cries. Hopefully he likes being with the other kids. Also, I understand all my pictures usually show Brennan sporting a Diego shirt of somesort, but he does have other clothes. Today he is wearing a Dodger shirt. Getting him dressed is a battle, Diego helps. We'll be wearing it tomorrow though for our show. A storm is brewing outside, hopefully we'll get a decent rain out of it.

Brennan's first day

Well, it has happened. I am alone in my house this morning. Not sure, I can't think of any other time I've been here by myself. Maya is in school (8:30 - 11:30) and Brennan is in a class now too,(9:30 - 11:00). It was sad leaving him today. He was sitting at the table with all the other children and I snuck out. I'm hoping he is behaving himself. He looked like he may be the oldest kid, but he was the same size as everyone else. I hope he has fun. He is soooo attached to me, which is cute, wonderful and all those other good words, but I am so afraid to get a job and not know if he can take daycare or another person watching him. I'll let you know how it all goes down.
Saturday we had a family day and went to the Peoria zoo. The kids had fun, although if you are thinking of going, $6 adult admission seems steep for the animals you get to see. After the zoo, we had some lunch and stopped for ice cream at Emo's. Yummy yummy. We had a cookout with neighbors that night. I came home around 9 to put the kids to bed, but Adam came home later a lot tipsy. Our neighborhood rocks by the way. You can't be in your yard, front or back without someone coming over to talk. And recently, going on walks you see a friend and get pulled into the garage to have a beer. Definately the best neighborhood in the world for kids and parents.
Mother's Day was splendid. Adam BBQ'd some cheeseburgers and brats for us and my parents and brother. The weather was awesome. Adam bought horseshoes and put them in the dirt behind our lot. Worked out nicely. I only got one point all day and my arm is a little achey... so needless to say, I'm not too good at the sport.
Diego is Wednesday. I hope to have lots of stories and pictures after that.
Oh yeah, my phone interview went well on friday. I'm hoping to get a call from the regional manager this week for a face to face interview. I want this job. It is a great opportunity for me and something I could see myself doing for a long time. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. The best part about this job is that some days would be office days at my house. The flexibility of just that is so great as a mom. Although, I would love to walk into all those hospitals that I know people to say hi. Ah, I'm so excited... Tammy don't blow this one.
Peace out!@

Small Job

So I have a friend here in town that does mystery shopping. She was telling me of her various jobs and I thought it sounded fun. So, I decided to sign myself up too. Yesterday I had my first mystery shopping visit. I had to go to Charlotte Russe and check out the employees, fitting rooms, interior..etc. etc. I only get $7 for this shop, but that's okay... it was fun to have a mission and write a report later. I received an email to do a Washington hardware store for $12 today, so maybe I got a pay increase. hehe.. No, they're all different. Some give you money to eat at restaurants and then evaluate them, some give you pay and a small stipend to buy something. It's not like I have anything better to do right now and I like to shop. But actually, and fingers crossed... that could change. Yep yep. I have a phone interview with HR on friday with Dade Behring!!!! They need a Peoria based clinical applications specialsist. Basically I would be training, installing and demonstrating a chemistry lab instrument that I have had several years of experience with. I'm excited.
We're all doing good here. Enjoying the warm weather using the little pool or sprinklers. The kids went to a bday party and had a blast this past weekend. Although it was cooler, the kids were still in love with the huge blowup waterslide. All the kids in the neighborhood have these $300 kid 4-wheelers. Of course our kids can't get enough of them. Honestly, they are pretty cool. Oh yeah... Maya got in to St. Pats for pre-school next year. Although, if I get a job, that could change. Everybody enjoy you mother's day if I don't post earlier.

The Deodorant Challenge

So, I've been having this issue with deodorants. Usually I forget about it during the winter, cuz sweating is not a problem. Maybe it's since having babies - hormone changes, whatever, but my typical deodorants do not work. The normal being Secret or Lady's Speed Stick. I smell like a man. Anyhow, I think it was Jamie who said Degree worked well for her and I'll have to thank her for that, because it is works great. Just for fun, I'm going to perform an experiment. I am going to use an old deodorant on one side and Degree on the other. The things I do to entertain myself.
Speaking of the things I do, I added some pics of a crown I painted on Maya's wall yesterday. She doesn't have a headboard, so I painted one. I'm not done yet as I am going to scroll "Once upon a Dream..." around and above the crown. I think it turned out pretty good, being I just whipped it up there. What do you guys think?
First week home with Adam has gone well. Maya still hasn't figured out he is home for good though. Everytime he gets home from work she asks... "How was your flight, Daddy". And sometimes in the morning before he leaves she says.. "Did you remember to pack your toothbrush?".
The kids are excited because we have a birthday party tomorrow. The parents bought one of those huge blow-up waterslide things, so hopefully the weather cooperates.
Hope everybody else has a lovely weekend.

Can you hear me?

Today I am taking Brennan to get his ears tested. Yes, I am fairly confident saying he hears just fine, but there is always the possiblity that he isn't forming his words right cuz he can't hear correctly. This is a follow-up to his Easter Seals eval. I've been getting all the reports the last week and I do see a lot of progression since. I think Brennan is just a stubborn, aggressive kid who just needs time to grow out of these bad habits. The "corner", not time-out seems to be a better disciplinary action with him. Sure I hold him down in it, but he accepts his defeat much quicker than a normal timeout in any random spot.
I do have to say, I love blogs. I love writing a few lines on mine and I have around 5 others I check daily. I get so excited about updates. I'm retarted, I know.
Bye Bye Phil... Sure, you were starting to sing a little better, but I couldn't stand watching you.

Song Fest

Yes, it is a fun concert season for us. We have tickets to two venues. In July, we will be sitting in the grass with Jimmy Buffett in Tinley Park and yeppers, Chris Daughtry in August at the State Fair. Should I say three and include Go, Diego Go this month with the kids? I'm excited, as I don't know when I saw my last concert. It was probably Rusted Root in Vegas two years ago, but I'm also remembering going to SOP's in Peoria a couple months ago and watching a cover hair band... does that count too? I'm just excited to see some live music again.
Not much occurring on the homefront. It was hot hot hot yesterday. The kids ran through the sprinkler outside. I think the rest of the week is supposed to be in the 70's, which to me is the perfect weather. I think this is Maya's last month of gymnastics. She'll start swimming lessons and some sort of sport in June. Ah, I can't believe next month is June. That sprang up on us.
Happy May Day everyone and Happy B-day Megan O.
