Bragging
Okay, I hate bragging about MY children, but I have to. I couldn't believe I heard Maya singing this to me in the car. I'm so proud. That girl is a sponge!

It tastes like the Farm
Slight fevers here in the house today. Yet again, school starts and germs spread. However, I am a supporter of these small illnesses. Kids need to build up immunity and I'd prefer that they do have these bad days now than later. Like when I have a job or when the kids have "true" school. I'm sure they'll be sick more than I'd like anyway in the future, but they should be able to fight off infections stronger and faster with already developed antibodies. That's my health speel for the day.
My weekend was very enjoyable. I took a break from motherhood for a trip to Chicago to see some college friends. We had a great time chatting about old times and current stuff. I feel really lucky to have great friends in my life.
I have to add another Maya story that I find incredibly funny again. So the other day I reheated some tortellini for the kids. Maya says "I don't want to eat it". I asked her why, she ate it the day before. She says, "It taste like the farm". I asked what the farm tastes like. She says, "The farm smells bad". So I ask, are you saying the tortellini tastes like the farm smells? She says, "Yes. The tortellini tastes like that smell". Again, I had to laugh, cuz I guess that is a logical and more polite way to tell me the food tasted like shit!

A is for Apple
So, yesterday, Maya and I were working on the alphabet. We had all the letters laid out. I was picking them up in order and asking her to tell me a word for each letter. She said A is for Apple, B is for Brennan, C is for Cat... etc etc. she was doing fine til she got to I. "I is for eye on your face?" I said no that starts with E. "Eyebrow?" No, that's E too? Then she said, "How about Ipod?" I laughed, but let her go on to J with that answer.

PFest

The Pumpkin Festival has come and gone. I've come to realize it's merely a social event. It is really not fun to go to a small plot of land with thousands of people crammed on the grounds. I managed to choose the best day to take the kids for carnival rides though. We went thursday night, just cuz the weather looked better, it wasn't the first night and it wasn't the weekend where all the extra visitors come. A couple disappointing factors this year.... No Libby's booth this year to win a stock of chocolate chips like normal, no picture booth to get a $7 portrait and my porkchop sandwich was a bit cold. Otherwise it was pretty much the same. I am very proud of Adam for running, completing and astonishing me with his finish time in the 10K race (6.2 miles). He did it in 53:30. The parade was nice and the candy they were throwing this year was pretty good. Why oh why must they throw that Double Bubble hardass gum. It just ends in the trash or is recycled in the Halloween candy bowl in my house. Any how, the kids had fun and that seems to be the true meaning to life right now anyhow. Bonus for me: I visited a chiropractic booth in the merchant tent where I scheduled a free evaluation. I've been having some neck issues for awhile now. Why, who knows, but sometimes I can barely get through 10 minutes at the computer before the pain starts. Then come the headaches and the dizziness. I could possibly be pinching a nerve somewhere. We'll see. The appointment is next week.
After the parade on saturday, we ventured to the RibFest at the riverfront. Nothing spectacular. Some good ribs were eaten and the scenery was nice.
The colder weather was nice, but I see some near 90 temps are in the forecast. I am so excited fall is around the corner. It's my favorite time of year. I'm gonna try and attach a small video clip to see if it works. It makes me laugh everytime I see it. Micah came out of the accident without wounds. Brennan was cited for reckless driving.

Metamorphisis

We have a butterfly. Of course I missed the hatching. I looked at the cocoon today and thought it was going to hatch tomorrow. Our other guy is still hanging, so maybe I'll be lucky enough to see him pop out. Not quite sure what to do from here, but I guess I'll try and release him in the morning. Pretty cool.
Update on our cantaloupe.... It was pretty damn good. Maya ate the whole thing in one sitting. The kids are still doing well with school, although Brennan still cries as I leave and Maya went to the yellow (warning) light for not staying seated. We'll see if we're still enrolled in gymnastics after tomorrow.
